- Alpes-de-Haute-Provence - the capital of this départment is Digne which lies in the heart of Provence's lavender production. This is a spa town with cafés and boutiques. The west of the département has a very provencal feel with milder climates, rolling hills and vineyards
- Bouches-du-Rhône - home to the Carmargue which has, white horses, pink flamingos, grazing bulls and cowboys. The coastline here is dramatic and beautiful, Marseille is situated on the coast and is France's second largest city and most important seaport
- Hautes-Alpes - boasting over 30 ski resorts the Alps also offer many summer sports activities such as climbing, cycling, walking and white water rafting. There is magnificent scenery here including the highest town in Europe Briançon
- Vaucluse - many wines are produced here including the well known "Chateauneuf-du-Pape" which is produced just outside of Avignon, a city that was once home to several popes. Orange is relaxed and offers pleasant squares and fountains and two fine Roman monuments
