Madame Tussauds
From Bollywood to the Beckhams, you will come face to waxy face with the famous, the furious, the fabulous and the phenomenal. Forget dusty dummies in threadbare clothes, Madame Tussauds invites you to get close up and personal with Justin Timberlake, strut your stuff with Kylie and offer HRH The Queen some advice.
Ever wondered who Madame Tussauds was? Born Marie Grosholz in Strasburg, she learnt wax modeling from her mother's employer, Dr. Philippe Curtius who opened an exhibition of life-sized wax models at the Palais Royal in Paris. Together they worked throughout the French Revolution and upon his death Curtius left the entire collection to Marie.
A brief marriage to François Tussaud ended when Marie left her native land to bring her collection to Britain. For 33 years Marie Tussaud toured, travelled and modeled, adding new figures all the time to her rapidly growing collection. Finally settling in Baker Street, Madame Tussaud lived to a ripe old age, a revered member of society and a success!
A visit to Madame Tussauds will take you through 16 different arenas including the wonderful Spirit of London, a journey through London's history since Tudor Times. Other displays include World Leaders, a Chamber of Horrors, a photo-shoot with Kate Moss and an evening with the stars in Premier Night.
New this year is Stardome. In collaboration with Aardman, the world's top animation studios, Stardome is a fabulous mix of film, animation and wax that takes visitors on a surreal journey to see excited aliens trying to understand those who have achieved eminence in our world?!
