The wider area of Edinburgh is known as The Lothians. Find undiscovered beaches, delightful little towns and some fantastic countryside. There some marvellous cliff-top walks from which the views across the sea are spectacular. - Dirleton Castle and Gardens - a romantic castle often in the forefront of Scottish history since it was built in the 12th century
- Lennoxlove House - houses a fabulous collection of paintings and furniture and some Mary Queen of Scots memorabilia
- Muirfield - The home of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, it was designed in 1891 by Old Tom Morris
- Prestongrange Industrial Heritage Museum - tells the story, past and present, of local industries and the people who worked in them
- Tantallon Castle - set on the edge of the cliffs looking out to the Bass Rock, this formidable castle was a stronghold of the Douglas family
