  • Cher - is steeped in history, culture and tradition, set in a beautiful and varied landscape which has been the inspiration to artists and writers for centuries. Visit Bourges, a rich historical town of paved stone streets with medieval and Renaissance architecture, and of course Sancerre for its famous white wines
  • Eure-et-Loir - has such a variety of landscapes, a richly diverse heritage and a range of leisure options. The city of Chartres has medieval cobbled streets, gabled houses and charming footbridges at the foot of its cathedral
  • Indre - gets it's name from the river that flows through the north and joins the Loire. One of the very rural départements with life being of a relaxed nature which is full of mystery, charm and an abundance of historical ruins, cathedrals and fine churches.   • Indre-et-Loire - includes the city of Tours, a cosmopolitan city with avenues dating from the 18th century and a variety of museums focusing on art, Amboise with its dominating Château d'Amboise, and Chinon west of Tours on the River Vienne with mediaeval streets and a great base for touring nearby vineyards
  • Loiret - known as the gateway to the Loire Valley, Loiret is steeped in history with Orléans being famous for it's connections with Joan of Arc whose festival on the 8th May is the highlight of the year
  • Loir-et-Cher - was favoured by French Kings for many centuries due to it's temperate climate and acres of forestland. Blois, the capital faces south across the Loire, and is a busy market centre with boutiques and restaurants. Don't miss The Château of Chambord, in Chambord which was a country retreat for French kings, especially Louis XIV
