Lille Shopping

Lille ShoppingFrom the main commercial streets to the peculiar little boutiques of the Vieux Lille, from arts and crafts shops to the biggest names in luxury and home decoration, Lille offers a vast and varied choice for lovers of shopping.

In the Old Town, narrow, winding cobblestoned streets hide tiny family-run stores in old Flemish houses around the Rue de la Monnaie - Lille's oldest street. Old, traditional shops are made up of lace shops, clothes stores and gift shops as well as quaint coffee outlets and cosy cafes.

For classic designer names, take a visit to the chic Rue de la Grande Chaussée, right in the centre of town, where you will find names like Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Lacoste.

Gourmet fare not to be missed can be found at Philippe Olivier, 3 Rue du Cure St Etienne, one of France's most famous cheese shops. And of course a stop at Meert, on rue Esquermoise, is compulsory: here you will find exquisite waffles and other delicious pastries.

Several markets take place in Lille every week. The two most interesting ones are the one on Place du Concert, which is an excellent, bustling food market in Lille's Old Town on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and the daily book market in the Vieille Bourse courtyard.

Market Shopping in LilleEuralille, one of the region's largest shopping centres, is a large, modern indoor centre housing over 140 exciting shops over two levels. Offering a range of fashionable chain stores, independent retailers and restaurants, Eurolille is located near the Eurostar terminal station and is perfect as a place to enjoy one's leisure time or for a shopping day out!
