Calais Shopping

Calais is one of the biggest and best centres in Europe for shopping with a comprehensive range of stores and shopping outlets. Calais has a huge cross section of variety - from major outlet stores, independent family-run shops, and specialist retailers such as wine merchants, food supermarkets and boulangeries.

Just outside the town centre there are three hypermarkets. There are over 150 stores at the large and popular Cité Europe - one of the towns most famous shopping centres. Exactly 4 kilometres and around a 15 minute drive from Calais centre, Cité Europe offers a variety of chain stores, boutiques and eateries under one covered indoor centre. Cité Europe is home to a large Carrefour hypermarket as well as branches of Oddbins and Tesco Wine. As well as boasting 21 restaurants, the centre's own cinema completes the full leisure experience.

As well as an array of DIY stores, and a dozen wine and beer warehouses there is also the stylish Marques Avenue outlet centre which boasts over 60 shops selling discounted goods and products. The Auchan hypermarket chain houses household goods, groceries and a range of fresh produce - perfect for a shopping day trip!

Calais town centre still has a huge choice of family-run speciality shops - and two colourful country-style markets in Place d’Armes and Place Crevecoeur - both open twice a week and offering a superb range of fresh and preserved foods, chocolates, patisseries and breads, as well as cheese and meat.
