In honour of all our servicemen and women, The 2010 Royal Tattoo at Windsor Castle will take place on the evenings of 12-15th May, held in the magnificent private grounds of Windsor Castle by kind permission of Her Majesty The Queen.

There are three big anniversaries to celebrate in 2010; 70 years since The Battle of Britain, 150 years of Cadets and 350 since the birth of The Household Cavalry Regiment.

The event will showcase hundreds of military musicians as well as staging some exciting demonstrations of real-life combat situations in Afghanistan. The Royal Navy Field Gun Race is back by popular demand. In 2009, a tribute to this iconic race was staged at the Tattoo, thrilling the audience for the first time since its last outing at The Royal Tournament ten years previously.

With plenty of stirring military bands, the gleam of polished boots and the splendour of the uniforms, how could anyone not enjoy this marvellous Tattoo.

The world famous Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology in Oxford has re-opened after a multi-million pound refurbishment.

Opened in 1683 with a collection donated by Elias Ashmole, this superb museum features a marvellous collection of miscellany from around the world. As more and more curiosities were donated, so the collection grew to one of the most astonishing collection of ancient artefacts in the world.

It is impossible to pick out important pieces as they all play their part in providing the public with a kaleidoscopic view of the world since pre-history. Not to be missed however are the gorgeous little Egyptian, coarse red pottery hippopotamus dating back to 3000BC or the tiny little terracotta figure of an Ethiopian boy curled up asleep.

Amongst the many splendid Eastern pieces, the fabulous gold and silver Japanese Hawk on a Perch is breathtaking as is a wonderful carved lacquer Ming dish.

From wonderful Michelangelo drawings to an original Stradivarius Violin, Western Art is well represented and the Ashmolean coin collection is second to none.

This most complete dockyard documenting the Age of Sail is housed in authentic 18th and 19th century buildings facing the River Medway. Stars of the collection are a Second World War Destroyer HMS Cavalier, HMS Ocelot built in 1962 as part of Britain’s participation in the Cold War and the fabulous Victorian naval sloop, HMS Gannet.

Among the many fascinating museums are a wonderful reconstruction of a dockyard as it would have looked in the days of sail, an intriguing ropery and a marvellous journey of discovery through Britain’s days as a nation that ruled the waves.

Celebrate Easter with thousands of others on the South Lawn of the White House. This annual Easter egg-hunting tradition dates back to 1878 and is the largest public celebration at the White House - you might even spot President Obama there.

Started by President Rutherford B Hayes, since then Presidents and their families have enjoyed the White House’s largest public celebration, and it has been customary for Presidents, First Ladies, their children, grandchildren and pets to attend the festivities. Among the most eagerly anticipated guests each year, of course, is the Easter Bunny.

The White House Easter Bunny, usually a White House staffer dressed in a special rabbit suit, was introduced by Pat Nixon, wife of President Richard Nixon, in 1969. Strict guidelines prohibit the bunny from being seen without his costume head, but the identity of the staffer inside is revealed every once in a while.
