Fly me to the moon at Futuroscope near Poitiers

France’s second largest themed leisure park, Parc du Futuroscope, is opening three new attractions for their 2009 season. Dedicated to exploring the future, the park aims to stimulate the mind using cutting-edge technology to bring the future to life.

Fly me to the Moon, to be shown in the IMAX cinema, takes a whole new look at the first moon landing in 1969 when Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins set off on their historic mission in Apollo 11. Experience their story through the eyes of three stowaways as they hurtle towards the moon.

Cosmic Collisions – watch as vast blocks of ice and huge rocks crash and collide to form new moons; experience asteroids smashing into our planet changing life on Earth forever. An amazing show held under a midnight blue dome will change your perceptions of the universe forever.

The Blue Note Mystery – a musical face-off between fun-loving DJ Mike and his virtual counterpart, MP5, turns into a quest for The Blue Note, the most beautiful, magical sound ever heard. Sonic sensations, graphic waves and jets of flame and light set the scene for this futuristic musical extravaganza.

There are plenty of hotels in Poitiers, ideal for exploring this beautiful region of western France. The site of historic battles and graced with some magnificent medieval architecture, Poitiers is a dynamic city of street cafes, great restaurants and bustling streets.
