This popular seaside resort has been a favourite of the rich and famous of nearby Bordeaux since the 19th century. Beautiful neo-classical villas line the streets in the Ville d'Ete area facing the lagoon and there are some very smart bars and restaurants. The Plage d'Arcachon boasts two piers, plenty of facilities and boat trips to nearby Cap Ferrat.
