Martello Tower

The Martello Tower at Slaughden, Aldeburgh was one of the Napoleonic defences, built between 1808 and 1812. They were built of brick; 13 foot thick on the seaward side, stood about 30 foot high and were equipped with cannon on the roof.

Moot Hall & Museum

This 16C town hall is a listed ancient building. The museum depicts life in Aldeburgh with displays of items of local interest (e.g. artefacts). The museum focuses primarily on the fishing industry, with a feature on the local lifeboat.

Snape Maltings

Snape Maltings is the home of the world famous concert hall that hosts the annual Aldeburgh music festival. Formerly it was a 19th-century collection of granaries and malt houses used for the brewing industry until 1960.

The Scallop

The Scallop is a stainless steel sculpture located on the beach at Aldeburgh, it was created by a Suffolk-based artist Maggi Hambling and dedicated to Benjamin Britten, who used to walk along the beach in the afternoons.
