Aberdeen Airport opened in 1934 and with the discovery of North Sea oil in 1967 became hugely important. Aberdeen Airport is the gateway to Europe’s energy capital, serving more than three million travellers a year. It is one of the world’s busiest commercial heliports, transporting more than 500,000 passengers in support of the North Sea oil and gas industry.
